Youth Club are a Southend based alternative pop band who have been trouncing the scene since 2014. During that time they’ve played BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend, Y Not Festival, Shazam Summer Party, and gained the support of Radio 1, BBC Introducing, MTV Rocks, Sunday Brunch, and even Made in Chelsea. So we figured we’d better take a listen to their newest single “Our Love”.
“Our Love” is a song that blends modern summer pop with retro synth sounds and extremely catchy songwriting to create a great result. The track boasts a chunky bass synth and offbeat, quirky percussion to create a jaunty summer anthem. Did we mention it sounds summery? The vocal work and production in this song is very impressive, with the end result being smooth vocals that fit perfectly with the cascading waterfall of synthesizers that is Youth Club’s instrumentation. This track is very different to the band’s last offering “The Man That I Am”, which had a similar feel but was more guitar based with only part of the mix being a synth.
“We have been progressing as a band, personally within our own lives and also with our sound. We feel like ‘Our Love’ is a mature sound and takes us into a new era of our Youth Club sound. We have worked on the last three singles with producer Clint Murphy and we have really hit the mark with our sound and really excited to hear ‘Our Love’ and hopefully it will be the soundtrack to a lot of peoples summers.” Says the band.
Overall, “Our Love” is probably the strongest offering yet from Youth Club, and given their history, they’re only going to get better.
